TRIGLAVSKA ROŽA (Pontenrilla nitida) – Typical Slovenian alpine flower. It is associated with the Legend of Zlatorog in which it possesses miraculous healing powers.
GORENJSKI NAGELJ (Dios anthus) – Red flowers represent love, affection, admiration and honor. Without this flower, holidays such as Labor Day, Women’s Day in Slovenia are hard to imagine.
ENCIJAN (Gentiana froelichii) – Encijan blooms in August and September when we can find it in the eastern Karavanke Mountains and the Kamniške Alpe. It is endemic and for this reason protected since 1949. It rarely grows abroad in the (Italian) Julian Alps and the Carnic Alps as a subspecies of the Slovenian one.
PLANIKA (Leontopodium alpinum) – Name edelweiss comes from the fact that this flower is present on mountains of the Alps. In Germanic languages the name edelweiss derived from the Swiss-German word edel (noble) and weiß (white). Scientific name Leontopodium derived from the Greek words leon (lion) and podion (paw) and alpinum (Alpine).
